Our Village

Thoranegedara is a rural village situated in Kurunegala district in the North Western Sri Lanka. It is a  multi-cultural village, which consist of both Sinhala and Muslim communities.  Tamil and Sinhala are the mainly spoken languages.

We have a Jumma Masjid, which is the Markas, the central point of administration for other three mosques in Lower Madalassa, Bogahawela, and Pallewela. Thoranegedara Al-Irsahd Muslim School is considered to be the landmark for Thoranegedara village.

About a decade before, this village had only 2 to 3 educated individuals such as teachers, Moulavis and Hafizul Qurans. But at present, with the grace of Allah (swt), we have many educated individuals, who employs in various sectors. But this number is very small, compared to the population.

However, this village is extremely in need of good education for younger generation. Al Ihsan Youth Society plays a major role in developing education in the village and we have set up major parts of our organizational goals to be covered with educational development activities. Thus the hope is to minimize the illiteracy and improve the quality of life of the people.
